Niger
Niger (French pronunciation: [niʒɛʁ]; English /niːˈʒɛər/), officially the Republic of Niger,
is a landlocked country in Western Africa, named after the Niger River. It borders Nigeria and Benin to the south, Burkina Faso and Mali to the west, Algeria and Libya to the north and Chad to the east.
Nigerien society reflects a diversity drawn from the long independent histories of its several ethnic groups and regions and their relatively short period living in a single state. Historically, what is now Niger has been on the fringes of several large states.
Much of the non-desert portions of the country are threatened by periodic drought and desertification. The economy is concentrated around subsistence and some export agriculture clustered in the more fertile south, and the export of raw materials, especially uranium ore.

é um país na África Ocidental. Faz fronteira com a Argélia e Líbia ao norte, a leste com o Chade, a sul com a Nigéria e Benim e a oeste com Burkina Faso e Mali.
Grande parte das porções não-desérticas do país estão ameaçadas por secas periódicas e a desertificação. A economia está concentrada em torno de subsistência e o setor agrário concentra-se na região sul, a parte mais fértil de seu território. A exportação de matérias-primas, principalmente minério de urânio, também é um dos principais contribuintes da economia nigerina. O país enfrenta sérios desafios para o desenvolvimento devido a sua posição sem litoral, terreno desértico, má educação, extrema pobreza, falta de infraestrutura e degradação ambiental.
Historicamente, o que é agora o Níger esteve à margem de vários grandes estados.
