Morocco, (Arabic: المغرب al-Maġrib, Berber: Amerruk / Murakuc, Lmaġrib, French: Maroc ), officially the Kingdom of Morocco,
is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Geographically, Morocco is characterized by a rugged mountainous interior and large portions of desert. Morocco has a population of over 33 million and an area of 446,550 km2 (172,410 sq mi). Its political capital is Rabat, although the largest city is Casablanca; other major cities include Marrakesh, Tangier, Tetouan, Salé, Fes, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, Kenitra, and Nador. A historically prominent regional power, Morocco has a history of independence not shared by its neighbours. Its distinct culture is a blend of Arab, indigenous Berber, Sub-Saharan African, and European influences. Morocco is a constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament. Morocco's predominant religion is Islam.
Marrocos, (em árabe: المغرب; transl.: al-Maġrib; em berbere: Amerruk / Murakuc), oficialmente Reino de Marrocos, (em árabe: المملكة المغربية; transl.: al-Mamlakah al-Maġribiyya,
é um país localizado no extremo noroeste da África, estando limitado a norte pelo estreito de Gibraltar (por onde faz fronteira com a Espanha e Gibraltar), por Ceuta, pelo Mediterrâneo e por Melilha, a leste e a sul pela Argélia, a sul pelo Mauritânia através do Saara Ocidental (território maioritariamente por si controlado) e a oeste pelo oceano Atlântico. Marrocos, tal como grande parte do Norte de África esteve sucessivamente sob o domínio dos fenícios, do Império Romano e do Império Bizantino até à chegada dos árabes, que trouxeram o Islão e fundaram o reino de Nekor, nas montanhas do Rife, no século VIII.
